I am Alison Laird. I am an energetic and engaging driver of change focussing on the client experience. I use my skills and experience to synthesise raw data into actionable insights, aligning operations with strategic and commercial goals, working with multi-functional teams and global business units to deliver cost effective, market leading solutions. I am also passionate about giving back to the profession and am a member of the Advisory Board for the Centre for Legal Innovation (Australia, New Zealand and Asia-Pacific); the inaugural global Chair of the Chief Innovation Officers Forum; and a Teaching Fellow at Australia’s College of Law developing curriculum for the Master of Legal Business course and delivering units on legal innovation and entrepreneurship in Australia and Singapore.
With more than 15 years’ international experience in innovation and operations working in Beirut, Dubai, London, Paris and Melbourne, I have helped lawyers challenge the status quo encouraging legal service providers and clients to think outside the box to deliver ‘different’. As a legalpreneur, I have delivered data-driven solutions combining people, process and technology to develop bespoke and creative outcomes that are streamlined, more cost effective, and fit for the future of law. I have previously served as Head of Innovation & Project Delivery for Pinsent Masons in Melbourne, the International Director of Implementation for DLA Piper in London; and the Chief Operating Officer – Middle East for DLA Piper in Dubai. In those roles, I was responsible for delivering strategic solutions to streamline and simplify business and support service operations – from standardisation and assessment of centralised vs decentralised service delivery models, to clarification of accountability aligned with function and role clarity, enhancing end-user service and quality delivery methods, and improving business team ability to drive fee-earning activities.
Disillusioned with the rate of ‘BigLaw’ change to meet rapidly evolving client and market demands, I relish working with a like-minded team, like I have found at Morae, to help drive efficiencies supporting both in-house legal teams and law firms.
